88-Year-Old Indian Man Wins ₹5 Crore Lottery After Trying For 35 Years.

Dream of an 88 year old man came true in the very first month of this new year. The 88 year old, Mahant Dwarka Dass, who lives in Punjab State of India won a lottery of whopping ‘₹ 5 Crores’, which more than $600K.
According to Mahant, he was trying to win this lottery for 35 years. After buying lottery tickets for 35 years consistently, he finally won the first in Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper Lottery 2023.

After winning this huge amount, he announced that he will distribute the amount between his two sons and his’Dera’.
“I am feeling happy. I have been buying lotteries for the last 35-40 years. I will distribute the winning amount among my two sons and to my Dera,” lottery winner Mahant Dwaraka Dass told ANI.

Though Mahant won the lottery for ₹5 Crore, he won’t be getting full amount. As the lotteries in India are subject to 30% tax deduction.
Mahant will be payed full amount after tax deduction of 30% confirmed by Assistant Lottery Director.
“Punjab State Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper Lottery 2023 results were announced on Jan 16. He (Dwarka Dass) won the first prize of Rs 5 Cr. After completing the prescribed procedure, the amount will be given to him after deducting 30% tax,” Karam Singh, Assistant Lottery Director told ANI.
